DIY Doily Ideas

I'm loving the lacy look of doilies… somehow they bring a little whimsy and charm to just about anything. Crochet, knit, cotton, linen and even paper doilies add a little elegance. I can’t wait to try some of these new DIY projects!
As much as I loved my Martha Stewart poms…. I’m kinda getting tired of them and I’ve been on the hunt for something just as easy to change things up in Marlow’s room. How darling is this doily chandelier and garland?

They’re pretty easy too! Doily Chandelier How To

Wait until you see how easy this bag is over at my new favorite blogger, Under the Sycamore.  I love it (the bag and the blog).  It's a perfect carry all and I adore personalization on anything.

More fun ways to use doilies!

Love this table runner!  It's seems so classic and modern at the same time.

First foods

As much cereal and oatmeal as I ate when I was pregnant, you really would think offering Marlow her first taste would be a breeze.  Marlow is still nursed regularly but lately it just hasn't been enough.  Between her great head control and her wandering eyes when we eat, we thought it was a good time to see if she was ready to try some solids.

Daddy was so excited. He really wanted to give her the first spoonful of some yummy oatmeal.

She seemed interested in the texture but mostly wanted it all over her face.

And then she wasn't so sure... but then again how could she love it after she saw Daddy with that look on his face?

I LOVE this face she gives him.  She looks like, "Are you sure I'm supposed to be eating this?" or "Have you tasted this stuff?"

Then she thought, "Here, let me have that."  My big girl wanted to try the spoon out herself.

Overall it went pretty well.  Oh my baby, she's growing so fast.

Mad Men!!

Break out the suits, bouffant hair and sultry red lips... I cannot wait!!  A friend turned me on to this show in the office one day and I had to get the previous seasons to catch up.  Oh I am so spoiled now.  I loved watching season after season and the anticipation has been killing me.

I still remember when Marlow was in my belly and I'd come home after work and actually watch TV.  This never happens anymore.  TV is something of the past.  I would get home and pour a little coke into a fancy cocktail glass and sip it like it was scotch.  You bet I'll be having myself something tasty this year... "I'll have a vodka gimlet please."

I even got very turned onto the red lips considering I'm not really a lipstick girl at all.  Even my nails were always painted in "Big Apple Red"... my fav polish.  Oh how I love the dresses and big hair.

Boy did I get a kick out of Betty smoking and drinking while she was pregnant.... scary.  I don't care what anybody says, I love that headboard.

Finally it's almost here... Sunday is Mad Men!

Keeping in touch

We're so fortunate that most if not all of our family lives in town. So Marlow gets to see a lot of family these days. We try to visit a different family member each week and so far we haven't cycled back around yet. Of course her grandparents cannot seem to get enough of her and have discovered the best way to tell her good morning and good night just about everyday.

We love Skype!

Marlow gets some pretty regular calls and loves to smile for the camera! If you're on Skype email me!

We've been busy!!

There has been quite a few changes in our household and it's been soo busy! I officially have a new job title....full time mommy... and let me tell you it really is FULL TIME. Marlow's been having fun discovering new things everyday. Her and Bella finally found each other last week. Marlow started to giggle as their eyes met. I can tell they are going to be best friends!
Marlow's been enjoying the summer with family and lots of pool time. I really think we have quite a fish on our hands. The girl wants to go further in every time. I swear she's trying to float already.
Hanging out with grandpa...

Marlow's first "glow in the dark" experience for her cousin's bowling birthday bash.

Father's Day Fun

I can't believe it's been a year since we found out we were pregnant! One year ago today we got a BFP and tried so hard to keep it quiet... now we get to enjoy our little Marlow on this wonderful holiday to honor all the great daddys in our lives.

We had a great time making Marlow's gifts to her grandpa's!

I can vividly remember my grandpa making these for all his grandchildren. He loved spending time outside in his garden and always had a project going outdoors. As I grew, I would visit, play in the beautiful yard and place my feet in the appropriate spot. I knew my spot because all the grandchildren had their names scrawled into the cement stone. I would stand and wiggle my toes... only to find that my feet were waaay bigger and didn't seem to fit anymore. All the grandkids would take turns trying on each other's "feet" in the stepping stones to see who might be a close fit. Eventually, I even fit into my sister's since she was older than me.

I love those memories and thought how great it would be for Marlow to try that out one day. I can imagine how surprised she will be in a few years to place her "big girl" toes where her delicate baby feet once sat.
